Meemic Insurance Company

In 1950, a small group of teachers formed Meemic to provide fellow colleagues with the quality insurance protection they needed at rates they could afford. Now, Meemic is committed to providing auto, home, boat and personal umbrella insurance coverage tailored exclusively to members of the educational community. What started as a small company in Detroit now extends its reach to teachers and educators employed by public, charter, private or parochial schools or at colleges or universities in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. Household family members are also eligible for membership.

Members consistently rate Meemic at the top of the industry for customer satisfaction for claim service among the nation’s leading insurance companies. Our roots in the educational community run deep and we honor the teaching profession through the Meemic Foundation for the Future of Education. Established in 1992, the Foundation has provided more than $2,000,000 in financial assistance and grants to schools, teachers and educators.

Meemic joined The Auto Club Group family of companies in 2011.

Fremont Insurance Company

Fremont Insurance Company was founded in 1876 as Patron’s Mutual Fire Insurance Company. The company was formed by local farmers in the village of Newaygo, Michigan, due to their difficulty in obtaining affordable fire insurance for their farm property.

By 1932, the company expanded its charter to cover the entire state of Michigan as Fremont Mutual Fire Insurance Company. The company quickly became one of the largest farm fire companies in Michigan, eventually adding commercial products, workers’ compensation, marine, personal auto and umbrella coverage.

Today, Fremont Insurance Company is a Michigan exclusive provider supported by a network of over 175 independent insurance agencies. Dynamic products, exceptional service, and competitive pricing have made Fremont Insurance one of the fastest growing and most respected companies operating in Michigan.

Fremont became a part of The Auto Club Group in 2011.
